St Piran League Division Two East round-up – Saturday, March 1

THE destiny of the league title remains in Dobwalls Reserves’ hands after edging a thriller at Calstock on Saturday.

The Dingos headed to Tavistock College to take on a Bees side that had scored 12 goals in their last two games, and a surprise was on when Calstock led 2-1 at half-time thanks to Olly Coster and Ryan Smale.

But Dobwalls, who scored through Scott Corson in the first half, won it thanks to Jordan West (66 minutes) and Jack Gaynor (73).

Gerrans and St Mawes sit three points clear of third-placed Saltash United Thirds after a 4-2 success at Lanreath.

Goals from Jason Busby (2), Sam Goodswen and Samuel Ward were enough despite Anthony Harman and Zac Panchbhaya’s efforts for the hosts.

Saltash ran out 3-1 winners over a Gorran side that would have leapfrogged the Ashes with victory.

Ben Waters, Owen Davies and Harry Pethick got the goals for the hosts with Guy Widdows replying five minutes into the second half.

Bude Town Reserves moved six points clear of the bottom two after easing past their Bodmin Town counterparts 3-1.

It was 1-1 at half-time thanks to the Seasiders scoring a bizarre own goal, but efforts from Steve Box, Aaron Hart and sub Jake Woodland ensured the points stayed at Broadclose Park.
