DEAN Cardew has returned to Torpoint Athletic as part of the management team.
The popular Cardew, who was manager for several years and guided the club to promotion to the Western League Premier Division, left The Mill during the summer.
He has had a short spell as a coach with Liskeard Athletic but now rejoins Torpoint to work alongside Ryan Fice as the club look to have a better second half of the season after struggling so far.
Cardew was in the dugout for Torpoint’s trip to Wellington on Saturday, December 21, alongside fellow coach Shaun Vincent, and is set to be for the Boxing Day trip to Saltash United.
Cardew said: “Due to my work circumstances allowing me to, I have decided to return to the club I call home to help to try and keep them where they should be.
“It’s an amazing club with amazing people and I can’t wait to be working alongside Ficey again.”
Fice said: “I’m delighted Deano has returned to his football home. His experience in the game will be massive moving forward.
“The football club is a better place with him on board and I’m over the moon to be working with him again.”
Club spokesman Luke Gibbons said: “Dean’s return to the football club is about more than just adding a new member to the team.
“He embodies the core values of the club and has achieved remarkable success here in the past. I’m thrilled to welcome him back, bringing his wealth of experience to the group.
“The partnership between Dean and Ryan will blend effortlessly, providing a huge boost to the team as we move forward.”
The Wellington game also saw the club give a debut to 16-year-old Joe Rapson who carved out a couple of good opportunities having come up through the ranks at the club.
