CORNISH Pirates travel to Championship leaders Ealing Trailfinders on Saturday looking to end a seven-year wait for a win at the Trailfinders Sports Ground.
The challenge for the Pirates, who have moved up to fifth in the RFU Championship table after their 34-31 win at London Scottish last weekend, will inevitably be a tough one.
The Pirates have not won a league game there since a 22-16 triumph in December 2016.
Should he feature this weekend, Tommy Wyatt will be making his 50th appearance for the Pirates.
Speaking after the win at London Scottish, Pirates’ joint head coach Gavin Cattle said: “We knew it would be tough against a side boosted by several Quins players, and although a nail-biter it was a good game.
“We again showed immense character but also of course came a bit unstuck at times too.
“Training was difficult this week because and we had to have a prop covering six, and Ben Grubb only arrived with us on Tuesday, though he did very well.
“Jarrard Hayler also played for the Navy midweek and Will Britton was unable to train ahead of the match, so all in all I’m just chuffed with the effort and achieving the result.”
Pirates duo JHayler and Harry Bazalgette made the Championship ‘Team of the Week’, selected by the Championship Clubs’ podcast.
Next home game is against Caldy on Sunday April 2 (2.30pm).
Tickets will be available at the gates on the day from 12.30pm; they can also be purchased online.
