Cornwall Cricket Board is set to host a Fundraising Summer Ball at the Penventon Hotel in Redruth this August.
The event, which takes place on August 25, is part of a new fundraising strategy which will help support the growth of cricket in Cornwall.
The evening will consist of a three course meal, magician, auction and dancing with all profits going to the Board for Cricket in Cornwall.
Cornwall Cricket Board is a not-for-profit and provides adults and children aged five years and upwards with the opportunity to take part in the sport across the county. It is also the official governing body for all cricket in Cornwall.
As well as working with its own teams, such as pathway cricket which sees young people compete across the south west and work towards joining professional teams, and disability cricket who are hoping to have their first ever county team soon, Cornwall Cricket Board also offer training for coaches, umpires etc and provide support to cricket clubs across the county.
Marketing, communications and fundraising officer Tamsin Chapman-Gunner said: “As you can imagine the more we do the more money we need to raise and our Summer Ball is just one of many ways that people can support cricket in Cornwall.
“We would be delighted if people could buy a ticket or two for our event but if not they could sponsor the event or offer an auction prize for the evening? Alternatively we have some great packages for sponsoring our teams.”
Managing director Joe Skinner added: “It’s going to be a fun evening and we hope that this is the first of many annual summer balls. Cricket is becoming ever more challenging to play due to the associated costs, such as membership, equipment, facilities and staffing. In recent times we have found that people are moving away from volunteering and require remuneration, all of this needs paying for.
“For Cornwall Cricket Board to continue to deliver the excellent work we have started throughout the pathway we need to diversify our funding so we are in a position to keep prices affordable for families across Cornwall.”
Tickets are available for £55 each or £500 for a table of 10 by emailing [email protected]. Tickets purchased by the end of June will benefit from the Boards early bird offer of £50 per ticket.
