Jack Andrew said: “To end my testimonial season on such a beautiful day was wonderful.

“It was humbling that so many turned out, especially all the ex-players from the past decade who made the effort to come back, and to witness such a reunion was brilliant.

“For what was the perfect end to my testimonial, to me it showed what a great bond it is to be a Pirate, and the friendships you make are life lasting.

“Also, my thanks are expressed to everyone who helped me, including my wife and family, our coaches, office staff, the fantastic sponsors, and all who donated prizes for the auction.

“As for a highlight, I would just say there have been a combination of things; however, what I was in particular taken aback by was the reaction of people, which was emotional and quite overwhelming.”

Shortly after the Cornish Pirates announced in 2013 that prop Paul Andrew was departing to Worcester, it was confirmed that younger brother Jack was promptly due at the Mennaye Field. Arriving from Plymouth Albion, he had also previously played for Exeter Chiefs and the Cornish All Blacks.

Jack started playing rugby, aged 11, at St Austell RFC, before later moving to Truro at under 15s level.

He is the Pirates’ most experienced squad member who, by the end of his testimonial season, took his overall games tally to 221.
