Royal Navy bomb disposal experts descended on Tolcarne Beach on Sunday after a possible ordnance washed up.
Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team initially attended the incident and put a cordon in place at 10am.
The item was classed as not being ordnance and was taken away for further investigation.
A Coastguard spokesperson said: “We were tasked to investigate reports of possible ordnance washed up on Tolcarne Beach.
“A cordon was put in place whilst the team waited for Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal to carry out an assessment.
“The item was classed as not being ordnance and was taken away for further investigation.
“If you see something suspicious on the beach, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
