This bank holiday weekend saw the last of the sessions on the Killacourt in town. What a spectacle of music we saw with brilliant artists.
I want to thank Melissa our events manager for her tireless work across the year but particularly over the summer months ensuring that we provide high quality free entertainment for locals and visitors alike.
It’s been great to see the Killacourt so well used this summer and if you haven’t been down in a while pop by and check out the brilliant array or retail untold down at the Killacourt.
That’s not the end for entertainment on the Killacourt we have the markets running on every first Saturday of the month, end of summer event and of course many autumn events to look forward to including the wonderful Spooky Newquay Zombie Crawl not too far away.
On Saturday as a town we recognised the huge success of Brad Pauls aka the Newquay Bomb! Brad recently went on to win the British Middleweight Boxing Championship, a huge sporting achievement and one that the entire town council wanted to recognise. Unfortunately due to family holiday I could not be there but I was pleased deputy mayor Cllr Margaret North was on hand to congratulate Brad in front of the town. Brad then went on to pose for selfies with many of his local fans. Brads achievement is not only a great example of perseverance and determination for the youngsters of Newquay, it highlights the town as a place for brilliant sporting success.
This being the last full week of the summer holidays for many children and therefore the last of the big summer weeks for visitors things will start to seem more business as usual. I get to this point in the year and look forward to the calmer autumnal months that still offer the buzz of visitors to our town but with a more chilled atmosphere and here’s hoping for an Indian Summer or at least one more heat wave, September sunsets on the beach are the place to be.
