Boardmasters is here and town is bustling with people visiting our wonderful town.
I personally look forward to this week and all it brings to our home however I understand it can be challenging as well, be patient, kind and tolerant of the many tens of thousands of visitors and show them how wonderful and welcoming our community is. If you experience any festival related issues there is a locals phone line directly to the operations centre 01637 479167.
If you have concerns over unlicensed street trading during the festival please get in touch with Cornwall Council who are the authority for this.
I was honoured to be asked to go and join the owners and patrons of Tom Thumb bar in town on Friday evening to celebrate their eighth birthday event. Running a small business in Newquay can feel like a constant struggle so taking the opportunity to celebrate these milestones is so important. Tom Thumb offers spectacular cocktails in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the staff are all amazing and they truly display what an art cocktail making is, go visit them if you haven’t been for a while and support local.
I along with Cllr Kenny and Williamson and our town clerk met with officers to discuss the issues around Whipsiderry cliffs. We expressed significant concerns around the safety issues relating to the recently installed temporary’ gates and fence. We made it clear Newquay Town Council is keen to support and the priority must be to have the beach open as soon as possible to allow continued use of this site by locals. Thanks to Cllr Fitter for all of his support at the meeting as well.
