Good news for all of us. Great news for our young people. Another Liberal Democrat campaign victory.
After months of the government refusing plans for an EU Youth Mobility Scheme, they've just made a welcome U-turn. Our young people (18 to 30 year olds) will regain the right to work, study and travel in the EU, with reciprocal rights for EU young people.
Liberal Democrats have been consistent - these are the common sense decisions, if we want to restore our relationship with the EU and to start boosting our economy.
I was excited to visit the remarkable, iconic St Just Miners’ Chapel last week. I’ve attended many events here myself and been a (very small) part of efforts to secure the funds necessary to secure the chapel by the local charity. Built for the benefit of local tin and copper mining families in 1833, the chapel has dominated and to an extent dwarfed the town for approaching 200 years.
Considered by building preservation experts as a ‘national treasure’ the building won’t just be as important as a museum piece with no function, but has a big potential as a major event location, performance centre and community hub.
I was delighted to meet some of the many local people who have done so much to promote this project to the verge of securing ownership.
If we scrapped these silly Police and Crime Commissioners, we’d have more money to put police on the beat. Having expensive political Commissioners hasn’t improved policing. Time for the Police and Crime Commissioners to face the music. That was just one of the points I made on the subjects we covered on this week’s BBC Politics South West programme.
Putin’s appeaser in the Whitehouse should be reminded that any “special relationship” with the UK can only be based upon truth, respect for democracy, justice and respect for international law.
Zelensky is right when he points out that Putin's US puppets seem to live in their own "disinformation space". Trump's spin-doctors introduced the concept of "alternative facts", to put a positive spin on what any normal person would call lies.
It’s clear the countries of Europe must come together and step up to the mark. For the good of Ukraine, and the good of a safe and secure Europe, we cannot risk dependence on unreliable partners.
Unless, we see a change of direction from the White House, this is unlikely to end well.
Cornwall is growing a powerful brand image around this planet as a leader in space science and satcoms.
Cornwall was given centre place at a recent Space Clusters showcase in Parliament. And I enjoyed revisiting Goonhilly Earth Station to review progress. Taking a critical part in no less than two important moon landings last year and more commissions to come. For young people, there are growing career opportunities in Space science and related industries.
