Newquay Zoo held a special breakfast to celebrate businesses helping to make the town a sustainable palm oil community.
Baggie Bettie, Newquay BID, Platform 3 Café, Newquay University Centre, Wax Sports Centre and K2 attended the event last Thursday after signing up to the attraction’s Sustainable Palm Oil Community campaign.
The initiative encourages businesses, groups and organisations to only buy and sell products that contain sustainable palm oil. Choosing oil that has been grown sustainably, helps to protect wildlife and habitats, prevent deforestation and support workers’ rights.
A zoo spokesman said: “The business breakfast was a chance to celebrate the businesses that have signed up to the campaign so far as well as provide more information and support to other organisations that want to take part.”
Máté Hovanecz from K2 Gym said: “We are a small community run gym whose purpose is to help the community. This opportunity came up to help a global cause and help educate people as well.”
