A POSTMISTRESS had a delightful surprise when she returned home from receiving a national honour.

Sally Bourton, who runs the post office in Trewoon, near St Austell, received her British Empire Medal (BEM), for services to the local community, from Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall Colonel Sir Edward Bolitho in a special ceremony.

Then, when she arrived back in her village, for found a special gift had been left for her by village crafters. The Trewoon Yarn Bombers had created miniature figures plus a copy of her medal.

Sally said: “This is an amazing gift. Thank you so much to everyone that put in the hard work.”
