WORK to repair the Jubilee Pontoon on the picturesque Saltash Waterside has now begun.
Weather damage - including that caused by Storm Darragh in December - has meant the pontoon has suffered a significant amount of impairment on its main body and fingers, making it an urgent health and safety matter for Saltash Town Council.
In a statement, the town council said: “Much of the damage is profound, impacting on the integrity of the entire structure. Working in partnership with Voyager Boatyard, the main and finger pontoons will be removed, assessed and refurbished.”
Back in December, two yachts on the Tamar River slipped their moorings with a rescue mission launched to secure one yacht which had collided with the pontoon.
