Building work has started on the first new homes of the second phase of the West Carclaze Garden Village at Scredda, near St Austell.

The overall development will eventually see up 1,500 new homes built on land once mined by Imerys in the vicinity of the Skytip.

Eco-Bos Development says the timescale for building the entire development, which will include affordable homes, is around 15 years.

The development will feature a range of community facilities as well as open spaces and lakes.

The vision for the site includes community food growing opportunities such as vegetable patches in gardens, community allotments and orchards.
