Mousehole Wild Bird Hospital and Sanctuary is visiting local groups to speak about the work they do, but they will not be able to reopen until August due to an outbreak of avian flu last year.

The hospital has been closed since September after avian flu was detected on the site and the birds had to be culled.

It will now have to stay shut until late summer due to disease control rules.

However, they are planning to open a temporary facility ahead of the hatching season to treat injured chicks and will work on improving their Mousehole facility to reduce the chances of avian flu in the future.

"They are also busy doing presentations and say they have ‘tailored’ talks to fit varied audiences from schools and universities to environmental and community groups. They did a recent talk at Kehelland College.
