Two well-known sites in Newquay have been sold for redevelopment by Cornish property company TMP Land Consultants. The company says they have been bought with “ambitious plans” for repurposing and redevelopment.
Rapidly growing UK-wide property investors Oasis Developers are buying up several properties across Newquay with plans for investing “huge amounts of money in regenerating the town”. The company’s website states they focus on having positive contributions to the communities they serve.
Planning has been submitted for the Tower Road Garage site. The proposed redevelopment consists of three commercial spaces aimed at attracting and supporting local businesses, situated on a prominent road frontage.
The applicant says the development addresses the local need for one and two bedroom accommodation and would provide four one-bed and six two-bed apartments with an additional two two-bed coach houses to the rear.
The other well-known building which has been sold is CSpace, based on The Crescent, overlooking Towan beach, which it is hoped will be redeveloped to nurture and grow Newquay businesses.
A spokesperson said: “CSpace is a project that will provide a co-working space for individuals alongside offering private office space to growing and mid-size teams. Additionally, there will be an event space that will allow networking events, business seminars and private events for the local community.
“The main emphasis is on developing a working community, connecting people and a business hub in the heart of Newquay with a view to expanding the space both on-site in the future and to multiple locations across Cornwall.”
Bradley Thompson, managing partner of TMP Land Consultants, said “We feel we are working hard for Newquay locals. In partnership with Oasis Developers, we are excited to announce that these developments are hoping to bring community-driven working spaces and desperately needed housing and small business commercial spaces in a town I am lucky enough to call home.”
