AN all-female team of SUEZ UK recycling and recovery employees participated in the Plymouth Pretty Muddy 5km run and raised £600 for charity.
The Waste Warriors completed the challenging obstacle course in under an hour for Cancer Research UK.
Team members Joanne Hillman, Natalie Johnson, Martine Hill and Stephanie Saenz all met while working at the Energy Recovery Centre in St Dennis.
“I am incredibly proud of our team for taking on the challenge and raising money for such an important charity,” said Stephanie, who is a key account manager. “We trained ahead of the event, and our dedication to making a positive impact in our community, for a charity that is close to many hearts, was what kept us going.”
“It was so much fun,” said contract compliance officer Joanne Hillman. “We now want to push ourselves even further and are on the hunt for a more gruelling course to raise even more money for charity.”
The team’s fundraising efforts will go towards the £98,000 raised overall at the event this year, which was held in Plymouth’s Central Park. The Race For Life events have raised more than £970-million towards lifesaving cancer research since being launched 30 years ago.
