TV and film actor Warwick Davis will appear at the re-opening of Harry’s Toy Chest in Victoria Square on Saturday, September 21.

The star of Star Wars, Harry Potter and Willow will host a meet-and-greet and signing event for all fans and customers. The costs are £20 per person/family, with proceeds going to men’s mental health charity Man Down Cornwall.

A large turnout is expected, thanks to Warwick’s cult status as Wicket the Ewok in Return of the Jedi, and Prof Filius Flitwick, head of Ravenclaw House at Hogwarts.

Fans will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Staff members will be on hand to manage the anticipated queues, which owner Harry Stacey predicts could build several hours before opening, with a one-way system through the shop to ensure a consistent flow of people.

The event follows a three-week refurbishment which includes an entire wall dedicated to Pokemon, an upstairs Lego room and a new squishy sofa which Warwick will be the first person to sit on.

Harry explained that Warwick’s family friends are regular customers and introduced their famous connection to the store.

“He loved it so much, he offered to reopen it,” he said, proudly. “He nominated the charity himself, and we’d like to raise as much money for it as possible.”

As the original post on his Facebook page attracted 82,000 views, that could be a considerable sum. “It’s going to be beyond anyone’s expectations – I’m nervous and excited at the same time. It’s like Santa’s grotto, a few months early.”

A lifelong collector himself, Harry launched his business as a teenage entrepreneur in Truro’s pannier market. Now 24, he has been trading from Victoria Square for five years. “I’ve always loved buying and selling – it was part of my childhood, and I studied business at university. I’ve made a job out of my hobby.

Doors will open at 10.30am with signing until 4pm. Warwick will sign a maximum of two items per person/family. Memorabilia will be available to purchase for signing, including Funko Pops, black series figures and more, or you can bring your own items to sign.
