VOLUNTEERS rolled up their sleeves to give a neglected play park in Newquay a much needed spruce up.
Weeding, painting and a litter pick were carried out by willing volunteers at the Trenance Valley park ahead of new equipment being installed.
The volunteers included councillors Louis Gardener and Oliver Monk along with family and friends, local residents and business owners along with members of volunteer group, Newquay in Bloom supported by a Cormac community partnership officer.
A Cormac spokesperson said: “We facilitated a tidy- up volunteer session.
“The park had become the target of graffiti and anti-social behaviour and was sadly overgrown and neglected.
“The team carried out a litter pick, swept up the leaves, cut back the overgrown shrubs and brambles, and painted over some of the graffiti.
“The group intend to plan another session after half term as there is still a lot to do.
“The park is certainly cleaner, more opened up to allow in some light and a far friendlier place to hang out. Thank you to everyone who joined in.”
Cllr Gardner added: “This was an area that was in dire need of some care and attention.”
