The Green & Clean of Camborne Group had another long and busy day last week as it’s volunteers took to the streets for their latest clean up of Camborne.

The big clean up included many roads and streets throughout the town, especially where cars are parked and so have to be done by hand. They also covered spots where the road sweeper can’t get to.

The clean up took place in parts of Barripper, Penponds, Beacon, Pengegon, areas around Tesco’s including Nicholas Holman road, Calimet Road, Rotair Road and in that surrounding area.

Many back lanes where covered too including the small lanes around Manor Road, Pengwarras Road, the Glebe and it’s surrounding area, Pengegon and Camborne Park, as well as some footpaths from Beacon to Pengegon including the fields.

Then it was on to Crane Road via St Meriadoc CE Junior Academy, Camborne RFC’s grounds which lead to Penponds, the pedestrian bridge at Foundry Road and the mineral tramway between Roskear to North Roskear Road going past Camborne Cricket Club.

Chairman of the group and Cornwall councillor Paul White said: “A huge thank you to all 24 volunteers who helped out during the last few days. Given the size of the area we covered it was much better than I expected as most streets and back lanes were quite tidy and we were able to cover more different areas this time.

“Our volunteers all do a fabulous job and are a credit to our town. It is amazing that we have so many people who are willing to give up their time to try and make life better for everyone.”

Overall, Paul and his team collected 29 bags of litter, as well as a few other small items.
