The Royal British Legion Newquay Branch held a wreath laying ceremony at the Newquay War Memorial on Saturday.

More than a 100 people attended the ceremony and the two minutes silence.

Veterans, serving military, Newquay Royal British Legion Branch and councillors were among those to lay wreaths.

Reverend Clare Anderson said the prayer, bugler Adam Pearson played the Last Post and Nigel Warmington performed a lament on the bagpipes.

Members of the Royal Military Police hosted a display on Bank Street to show off Police cars, handcuffs and associated military police equipment.

Daz Keeler, the chairman of the Newquay RBL branch and parade marshal, said: “As a veteran the Remembrance events give me and other veterans time to remember those we have lost during our services and those that still struggle today.

“Suicide rates are far too high for veterans.”
