Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault which took place on St Austell Street, Truro, shortly before 5pm yesterday.
Emergency services responded to a report of two people sustaining stab wounds in the street. A 31-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A 42-year-old man from Truro has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm without intent. He remains has been released on police bail until November 15. Enquiries are ongoing.
Police reassured the public that this was an “isolated incident”, with suspects and victims known to each other.
A scene guard and police cordon have been in place while enquiries have been conducted at the scene. An investigation is ongoing to locate outstanding suspects.
Detective Inspector Steve Applewhite said an increased police presence would continue in the area.
“We will be carrying out high visibility patrols to provide reassurance to the community,” he added. “I understand that an incident of this nature will cause concern, but I can confirm that this incident is being treated as an isolated incident and we believe that those involved are known to each other.
As part of their investigation, police are appealing for any witnesses who were in the vicinity of Trafalgar Roundabout to get in touch.
They also ask that anyone in the area who may have relevant dashcam, doorbell or CCTV between 4.30pm and 5.30pm yesterday to contact them.
