SPOOKY Newquay’s Zombie Crawl, which took place on Saturday, was deemed a ‘frightful success’, drawing more than 1,500 children and families who all perfectly dressed ‘the part’ and took to the streets for the petrifying parade.
A ghoulishly good time was had by all as many creative businesses got ‘spooktacular’ with decorations and costumes. The 2024 Crawl experience began with multiple rolling workshops for families to enjoy.
These included face painting for all the family, zombie outfit making sessions, pop-up dance classes, scary storytelling, wound making workshops and ongoing entertainment in preparation for the creepy crawl. All of these sessions were free-of-charge for everyone to attend and were situated in BID businesses and locations right throughout the town.
Then at 3pm, more than 1,500 affected zombies and dressed-to-impress kids, adults, babies and dogs gathered to join the horror show, working their way through the wicked wasteland of Newquay’s main street.
As with the previous instalments of the Zombie Crawl, the trail ended at a number of establishments where after-party ‘Spooky Discos’ kicked off before those over 18 headed into some of the town’s bars and nightclubs to see the spirited night out.
Love Newquay and Newquay BID manager Mark Warren, said: “We’re all on a collective high after a frightfully successful Zombie Crawl. The atmosphere was electric, and the costumes were quite terrifying!
“We’re so grateful for the support of everyone involved including all the businesses themselves in making this the biggest and scariest Zombie Crawl yet. Across the rest of the Half Term week here in Newquay, there is plenty of other freakish fun to be had. Visit the Love Newquay website to see what else is going on.”
Spooky Newquay has been organised by Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) with support from Experience Newquay on behalf of Cornwall Council’s Good Growth Fund.
