The 2024 korev Lager English Interclub Surfing Championships, due to take place on Porthtowan beach this weekend, has been postponed once again.
The competition was originally scheduled to take place over the weekend of September 7 and 8, but was delayed for a month due to poor surf and weather conditions.
Lauren Tapscott, events manager for Surfing England, said today (Friday): “Unfortunately, for a second time, things have not gone in our favour. This weekend, with the surf forecast looking small with dangerously high gusting winds, we have had to cancel the event. We are now in the process of looking to re-organise it for later this month, with the beach and exact dates to be confirmed.”
The English Interclub Surfing Championships is a team-focused event that brings together surf clubs from across the country. The first postponement came when organisers felt “the current wave forecast does not meet the necessary standards required for a fair and competitive surfing competition”.
