A SUNFLOWER garden in Newquay has raised £205 for charity.
Mitchell Fruit Garden opened its doors for families to enjoy the iconic yellow flowers, alongside its sub-tropical garden Children’s Hospice South West.
The business has been long standing supporters of the charity, and its Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell.
The garden gave 30 per cent of the entry fees to the garden to the hospice.
Garden owner, Kim Parish, said: “It was lovely to see families enjoying this new garden which demonstrates just what can be created in a few months. The garden showcases the plants that can be grown in Cornwall’s unique climate.
“The 15,000 sunflowers took centre stage, with six different varieties varying from just 40cm to nearly 2m.
“Next year we will have dedicated open day for Little Harbour and are looking forward to showing all our visitors the developments that will take place.”
Alice Merrett, from CHSW, said: “We are really appreciative of the support we have received from the garden, every penny we receive counts towards supporting the children, young people and families who come to Little Harbour.
“And what a wonderful way to fundraise, with beautiful flowers and gardens! Thank you Mitchell Fruit Garden.”
