THE equestrian team at a Camborne college is jumping for joy following success on the nation stage.

The Camborne Science and International Academy equestrian team finished second in the eventers challenge and fifth in show jumping at the National School Equestrian Association (NSEA) National Championships at Hickstead.

The team featured Amber Johnson, Grace Moore, Chloe Moore, Eleanor Nicholls, Barley Holloway, and Maddie Nicholls.

Amber Johnson placed fourth in the warm-up classes. The main competition saw the eventers challenge team, including Amber, Chloe, Eleanor, and Grace, secure second place out of 56 teams, narrowly losing the lead at the last minute after having held it for seven hours.

Amber Johnson also claimed first place overall in the team competition. The show jumping team of Chloe, Maddie, Barley, and Grace finished fifth, with time being the only factor keeping them from a top-three podium finish.

Headteacher Emma Haase, who accompanied the team, said: "This is an incredible achievement at a national finals and surpassed our wildest dreams. Our students demonstrated exceptional skill and competitiveness over the three days."

The team has qualified for the rearranged championship from The Royal Windsor Horse Show and the NSEA Championships in October at Addington.

Camborne Science and International Academy is eager to continue showcasing the talents of its students on the national stage. However, the financial challenges of participating in these events remain significant. The academy is seeking support from local businesses and organisations to help cover the costs of travel, accommodation and equipment.

Ms Haase said: "We are reaching out to our community for assistance in covering the additional costs associated with participation in these competitions.

"We invite local businesses and organisations to join us in supporting our talented students."
