St Ives Town Council is thrilled to announce that its Town Clerk, Louise Dwelly, has been named as one of the finalists in the prestigious National Star Council Awards.
After an exhaustive evaluation process, an expert panel of judges has shortlisted six exceptional individuals as the best Town Clerks in the country.
The Star Council Awards celebrates excellence and innovation in the local council sector, and this year's finalists have genuinely exemplified these qualities.
The St Ives Town Mayor, Johnnie Wells said: ‘This accolade demonstrates what we in St Ives have known for some years; that Louise is one of the best Town Clerks in the business. Her dedication to excellence is truly commendable, and on behalf of all councillors I extend my heartfelt congratulations to her for reaching this significant milestone’.
Louise Dwelly said: “I am very surprised and thrilled to be shortlisted for the national awards. Local councils are often overlooked, but they really are at the forefront of their communities. I became a town clerk three years ago and it has been a challenging, exciting and dynamic journey with so many rewarding experiences and team work. It’s very simply the best job I ever had”.
The winners of the Star Council Awards will be announced during the National Association of Local Councils' highly anticipated parliamentary reception, which will take place on 29 November 2023 at the House of Lords.
