ST Columb Major is set for a carnival week of fun and community spirit.

The event will get underway with a match between St Columb AFC and St Columb Legends for the Dave Burt Memorial Trophy at St Columb Recreation Ground on Saturday, August 3 at 2pm. The Carnival Ball will be held in the evening.

There will be songs of praise in St Columb Parish Church on Sunday, August 4, at 11am.

A Sunday Shindig will be held at Bospolvans Field at 2pm. There will be live music from The Off Shoots, Take a Chance on Us and Morpheus.

There will be prize bingo at the Columba Centre on Monday, August 5, at 7.30pm.

An over 65s lunch for St Columb residents only will be served up at the Ring O’Bells on Tuesday, August 6, at 1pm. There will be entertainment with MANDX.

A family dog show will be staged at Bospolvans Field at 6.30pm. A pool tournament will be held at The Red Lion at 6.30pm.

A children’s party will be held at the Columba Centre on Wednesday, August 7, at 2pm. Entertainment will be provided by Cool Kids Disco.

The Vale of Lanherne Chase will get underway at 7pm, which is a fun run for all levels of fitness.

The event starts at Mawgan Porth Holiday Park and follows a route around footpaths and by-roads to finish at St Columb Recreation Ground.

A Cornish wrestling tournament will be held at St Columb Recreation Ground at 7pm.

Party in the Red will be staged on Thursday, August 8, from 2pm onwards. There will be live music with Bow River, The Tregony Teachers and Tango in the Night.

Children’s sports will be organised at St Columb Recreation Ground on Friday, August 9, at 2pm. A quiz night will be staged at the Silver Ball at 8pm.

The grand carnival will be held on Saturday, August 10, which will assemble at Bospolvans Field.

Entries will be taken from 5.30pm, judging at 6pm and the parade starts at 7pm Bands from Indian Queens, Roche, Lanner, Camborne will be taking part along with the Kernow Pipes & Drums.
