An event held in aid of the St Austell mayor’s charity has raised hundreds of pounds.
Mayor Cllr Crystal Pearce and her fellow organisers are delighted with the success of the event staged at St Austell Arts Centre.
Entertainer Johnny Cowling was the star of the show and had everybody laughing, singing and jiggling around.
During the interval, everyone tucked into pasties made and delivered, hot and fresh, by butcher Les Pearce.
Cllr Pearce said after the event: “My sides are still aching from laughing so much – what an evening!
“Special thanks must go to the volunteers at the arts centre for hosting the evening, Terry and her staff at St Austell Library for being the event ‘box office’ and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, St Austell Brewery, Griggs Restaurant, Three Rivers Furniture in Truro and St Austell Print for being so generous with their raffle and auction prizes.
“Lastly, but certainly not least, a big shout out must go to Les Pearce, of Pearces Pasties, for providing 100 freshly-made hot pasties, personally delivered by himself for everyone to enjoy at the interval.”
The total amount raised by the evening for the mayor’s charity, Kernow Young Carers, was more than £400.
