THE Community Fun Day staged in St Austell has been hailed a big success.

The event in the town centre was organised by Mayor of St Austell Cllr Julian Young, the White River Place shopping centre and St Austell BID (Business Improvement District).

Cllr Young said: “What a day, I just cannot thank everyone enough for their contribution to the event which was all about having fun whilst raising money for my mayoral charities, the Blue Light Services and Kernow Young Carers.

“As well as activities, we had lots of charity and information stalls and a raffle, auction and tombola. We are still counting the money raised but it is looking likely to be in excess of £1,000 which is fantastic.”

Cllr Young added: “It was a truly magical community day with involvement from a variety of invaluable service providers from the town proving that St Austell really is St Awesome.”
