The Mevagissey and St Austell Bay area is sparkling and clean thanks to the efforts of local volunteers during the national Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean event.
Well-attended events took place throughout March and April at Mevagissey, Porthpean, Tregorrick, Pentewan and Carlyon Bay.
Over a dozen sacks of rubbish were picked up and removed from the environment, as well as an unusual find, a heritage sign from Radstock in Somerset, attracting national publicity.
Participating organisations included Three Bays Wildlife, Final Straw Cornwall and Carlyon Parish Council.
Event organiser James Mustoe, Cornwall councillor for Mevagissey and St Austell Bay, thanked those who came out in all weathers to pitch in.
“These events were good social and community activities, as well as letting us all do our bit to clean up around where we live and work,” he said.
This is the sixth year these events have taken place, but the first time they have attracted national publicity with the unusual find of a heritage sign from Radstock in Somerset.
Cllr Mustoe confirmed that Radstock Town Council is arranging collection and repatriation of the sign.
