A SPECIAL concert has been held in St Dennis in the Clay Country to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

The concert was staged at the Working Men’s Club in the village with music from the St Dennis Band and the Imerys Mid Cornwall Male Choir under musical director Barry Hawken.

A spokesperson said: “The programme consisted of songs and music of the time, and the audience was given the opportunity to join in with the singing.

“In the interval, wartime-related poems were read.

“There was a collection at the door to raise money for the charity, Help For Heroes.”
