A NEWQUAY primary school has been named as one of the first schools in the country that will provide a free daily breakfast club.
Trenance Learning Academy is among 750 schools who offer "healthy, varied and nutritious breakfasts" in schools before class as part of a pilot scheme starting in April ahead of a planned England-wide roll-out.
The government says more than a third of schools in the pilot scheme are in deprived areas.
Labour campaigned on a promise of free breakfast clubs in every English primary school and later tripled funding to £30m.
Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson sees the free clubs in all primary schools as vital to breaking "the unfair link between background and success" for students.
A spokesperson for Trenance Learning Academy stated the school has signed up to be an early adopter.
They added Headteacher Matt Williams had a meeting about the initiative on Thursday to discuss funding and finer details.
The spokesperson stated the school were not able to comment at this stage as they not sure on the logistics yet.
