SANTA will be touring the streets in his sleigh in the St Austell area as Christmas approaches.

The grand old fellow will be transported around the district by the St Austell Lions Club.

Santa is aiming to set off at 5pm on each evening he is out and about.

He will make his first trip on Monday, December 2, starting at the junction of Bownder Vean and Menear Road and visiting the Sandy area.

Tuesday, December 3, will see him in the Old Roselyon area, starting at the junction of Old Roselyon Road and Treesmill Close.

The next day, Wednesday, December 4, Santa will visit Charlestown and Gwallan Keys, starting at the entrance to Penrice Park.

Thursday, December 5, will see the sleigh in the Gover area, while Biscovey will be visited on Friday, December 6.

The following week, Father Christmas will be touring the Manor View area on Monday, December 9, starting at the junction of Par Lane and Manor View, then Polgooth and Sticker on Tuesday, December 10, Boscoppa on Thursday, December 12, and Polkyth on Friday, December 13.

In the week before Christmas, the sleigh will be in Duporth and Porthpean on Monday, December 16, the Parkway area on Tuesday, December 17, the Carclaze area on Wednesday, December 18, and the Jubilee/Retallick Meadows area on Thursday, December 19.

Santa’s final night out in the district will be on Friday, December 20, when he will be visiting Edgcumbe Green, taking in Woodside and Carne Hill, then pausing near the chip shop in Trewoon, before going into Cooperage Gardens.

The Lions club members accompanying Santa will be collecting money for good causes as the sleigh makes its way around all the houses.

A spokesperson for the club said: “We aim to cover all the areas mentioned but, unfortunately, we cannot predict the weather and breakdowns!
