PEOPLE are being warned to stay clear of the sand dunes at Crantock Beach after they started collapsing following the recent super high spring tides.
Crantock Surf Life Saving Club says the sand dunes have become “extremely dangerous” and “unstable” once again. The lifesaving organisation is particularly calling on people to keep children and dogs away from the fragile dunes.
A spokesperson said: “After the super high Spring tides, the sand dunes at Crantock have become extremely dangerous and unstable again.
“The sand is extremely unstable and there have been significant a number of falls.
“Please keep your distance and do not be tempted to walk, climb or dig in or around them.
“Please also keep dogs and children clear.
“Anyone who witnesses an incident on the dunes that requires assistance please call 999 and ask for Coastguard and Fire and Rescue.”
A spokesperson for Pentire Residents Association added: “Conservation efforts to stabilise the smaller dunes at Fistral in the face of high tides are ongoing.
“Please don't try to gain access over the new fence by the path. Also, not a great idea to go trampling and sliding up and down them from the beach.”
