NEWQUAY’S first three day Run to the Sun custom car and Volkswagen vehicle festival has come ‘roaring back’ after a 10-year absence.

More than 5,000 people attended the event at Nanskivel between Friday and Sunday, which started with more than 300 cars arriving in a cruise from Reading, one of the largest in the event’s history.

A show ‘n’ shine gave the car owners the opportunity to show off their pride and joy motors.

Festival goers enjoyed a diverse line up of music, which included drum and bass legend Goldie performing his earlier works live with the Heritage Orchestra, Jaguar Skills, Krafty Kuts, Slipmatt, The NextMen and Afriquoi.

There was also comedy, a pub quiz and fair ground rides.

Event director Andreas Christopheros said: “It was great to be able to put on our first three day event in 10 years.

“We would have liked to have a bit more sunshine, but despite the weather everyone had a great time, and the event was a big success. Plans for next year are already in full swing and we are excited to carry on building back up one of Cornwall’s most notorious events.”
