The Cornwall branch of the RSPCA are hoping people can help provide homes for animals in need of end-of-life care or temporary accommodation for those that cannot be permanently re-homed immediately.
The charity’s centre at Quoit is busy and so they are appealing for help.
“Things getting tight where rehoming is concerned, especially where the older, more-in-need pets are concerned,” said community support officer Stuart Hammond.
“There’s all waifs and strays needing temporary accommodation, either prior to rehoming or in need of end-of-life care when illness injury or simply advancing age mean that special needs must be catered for.
“Few people realise that RSPCA Cornwall will continue to support abandoned pets in these situations and even assist with their financial, medical, veterinary and dietary care when a suitable foster home can be found. This applies until the pet concerned has had to travel “over the Rainbow Bridge” to use a kind term for their final passing away.”
He added: “We want to make people aware that these unfortunate animals are all available to be re-homed in a suitable environment so if any readers feel that they could take on the responsibility of caring for the likes of Charley and Marley or Suki (pictured) and their friends then please contact the centre either via our website [email protected] or by calling on 01637 881455 when an appointment can be made to meet the relevant staff and pets concerned.”
The centre also deals with animals brought in through ignorance, cruelty and neglect that need to be cared for until legal proceeding are finished. Sometimes animals like these need foster homes.
