CORNWALL’S RSPCA centre in St Columb has launched a fundraising appeal to start the upgrade of its rehoming kennel block.
The Venton Centre states people can run their own fundraising campaign for the appeal such as staging a sponsored dog walk or a cake sale.
A spokesperson said: “We are planning exciting new chapters for our ever-evolving rescue centre.
“The most exciting change is the next phase of our kennel renovations.
“In February, some of our corporate supporters held a sleepover in our newest kennel block to launch it before it is open to our rescue dogs.
“We successfully raised £1,800 and more importantly, we raised awareness for the conditions a rescue dog lives in whilst waiting for their new home.
“We are currently transforming a building that is nearly 30-years-old into a modern design.
“This renovation will allow for a much more adaptive residence, including space for whelping female dogs and litters of puppies to get the calm and relaxed start in life they deserve.
“Anyone who is wondering how they can help with our fundraising efforts, there are a number of ways to support our self-funded branch.
“We run a monthly lottery and we also offer a kennel and cattery sponsorship campaign with your name displayed in the kennel or cattery block.
“Supporters can run their own fundraising campaign with full support from our fundraising team.
“Consider a sponsored dog walk, a cake sale with cat and dog faces on cupcakes, an animal dress-up day at work, or any other fun fundraising ideas.
“We love sharing fundraising efforts on our social media and putting workplace or community groups in the spotlight.
“We may even be able to invite fundraisers to our rescue centre for a visit and some animal cuddles.
“We could not continue to help hundreds of rescue animals in Cornwall without the support.”
