CORNISH Mini Club’s annual Riviera Run took place this weekend at Pentewan Sands.

The prestigious event, which has been running since 1995, celebrates the magic of one of Britain’s greatest and much-loved cars while offering visitors with a fun-filled weekend of activities and entertainment. It had previously taken place in Newquay before moving to Pentewan Sands in 2017.

Mini’s from far and wide, including one brought over from America and Australia respectively, descended on Pentewan for three show days. Saturday and Sunday were devoted to just Mini’s only, while Monday was an open car show where all makes and models were welcomed into the showground.

Throughout the weekend there were competitions for rocker cover racing, glow show, sound off, loudest exhaust and stereo as well as the show and shine and fancy-dress contests. First and second prize were also awarded to the best in show for Monday’s open car event.

Classic Mini owners had the chance to benefit from static tuning and carburettor setups delivered by tuning expert AC Dodd.

The Fire Brigade returned to present emergency response displays on the Saturday, while RNLI Fowey undertook a training exercise at Pentewan beach on Sunday morning.

Brederedh Cornovii, a group of Viking-era combat reenactors portraying 10th to mid-11th century warriors, wowed the crowds with full combat battles performances during the weekend.

George Brown, Home Cut Bangs, Jay Burleigh Music and Grizzly Paw were among those taking to the stage performing live music, while Sunday evening boasted an evening of karaoke at the nearby Seahorse restaurant.

Members of the Cornish Mini Club have chosen to support charities Children's Hospice South West and Cornwall Blood Bikes for this year’s event. The club donated £3,300 to local charities at the last outing in 2023.

The club have already announced that the Riviera Run will return in 2025 between May 3-5.
