RESIDENTS in Mid-West Cornwall will begin using the new waste disposal service from this week.

From today (Monday, March 10), the long-awaited reworked waste service will come into force for those living in mid-west of the Duchy, which is the fifth and final rollout area.

The new service covers Camborne, Redruth, Falmouth, Penryn, St Mawes, Truro, Probus, Trispen, Mitchell, Perranporth, St Agnes, Portreath and the surrounding areas.

This follows the launch of the waste collection rollout in mid, northeast, southeast and west Cornwall earlier last year.

The key elements of the new waste service now launched across the county include weekly food waste collections, fortnightly rubbish collections, fortnightly recycling collections, and new collection days for most residents.

Cornwall Council say that the new service is aimed at reducing waste, increasing recycling and contributing to a sustainable environment for all.
