The second gruelling Beacon Beast Marathon will be taking place in and around Bodmin on Sunday.
The multi-terrain challenge, first run last year, follows a rough figure of eight route based on the Bodmin Way, taking in the Lanhydrock, Lanivet, Nanstallon and Cardinham areas.
As in 2022, the route uses A30 bridges and underpasses, and crosses streams, stiles, possibly boggy ground and even a boardwalk.
The course goes over the Bodmin Beacon at around the halfway point.
This year there are a couple of changes in the second half of the course in the Cardinham area.
The marathon, covering more than 26 miles and with plenty of ups and down, will be starting at the Bodmin Football Club car park at 9am.
Volunteers will be positioned along the route to provide drinks and food for the runners.
The finish line will be outside St Petroc’s Church in the town centre with the first competitors expected to arrive before noon.
Bodmin Town Council is supporting the marathon and Mayor Philip Cooper is looking forward to the event.
He said: “This event builds on the very successful launch last year and the consensus from the participants was that it lived up to its name.
“There is plenty of opportunity along the route to support and cheer on the runners.”
