Residents are being invited to shape plans to help promote Newquay as a winter destination after the town secured nearly £500,000 funding.

The Experience Newquay team is inviting people to learn more about the project, what opportunities lie ahead and put forward ideas themselves at Mount Wise Community Centre on Monday, October 9 between 11.30am and 6pm.

The scheme aims to promote sustainable year-round tourism to support the local creative, leisure and heritage sectors.

Early plans being drawn up to help make Newquay resilient year-round and increase footfall include funding events and providing grants for businesses to enhance their shopfronts.

There are also plans to replace signage in the town including the Coast of Dream welcome to Newquay signs.

Experience Newquay will also offer a bespoke business training programme and support local businesses in the development of sustainable activities that appeal to locals and visitors alike.

The team will work alongside Newquay Town Council, Visit Newquay, Newquay BID and the Town Team to support the local creative, leisure and heritage sectors by developing activities and experiences that reflect the unique assets of the local area.

The majority of the funding for the scheme, £365,426 will come from the Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund and £100,000 of match-funding from Cornwall Council’s Town Centre Revitalisation Fund.
