A new era is dawning at Redruth Town Council as the new town clerk Charlotte Caldwell takes up her post.
Charlotte has been appointed to the role left vacant when previous long-serving town clerk Peter Bennett retired from the council at the end of last year.
She has most recently been projects officer at Helston Town Council but prior to that was Redruth’s Community Link Officer at Cornwall Council for many years, meaning she knows the town, local community, the town councillors and officers very well.
Charlotte brings to the town council her considerable experience in town centre regeneration, community projects, economic development as well as local authority processes, all of which means she’ll be able to hit the ground running in her new position.
She also set up and continues to be involved with the town’s youth café Hideaway 77, which has become one of her voluntary passions.
After taking up her new post, Charlotte said: “I can’t wait to get started at Redruth Town Council and to build on the considerable legacy left by my predecessor Peter Bennett.
“I’ve loved my time at Helston but like Helston, Redruth is a market town with exciting developments happening, new challenges and considerable opportunities. I am delighted to have been chosen to lead the Town Council forward and to help bring about positive change.”
Town mayor Cllr Stephen Barnes said: “Charlotte was the natural choice to be our new Town Clerk and we are looking forward to welcoming her to the team. We are sure her experience and enthusiasm for Redruth will pay dividends and the Council will be stronger as a result.”
Charlotte will begin her new role by getting to know the team working at the council and in the library, as well as hoping to arrange to meet the local community very soon.
Redruth Town Council have reiterated that members of the public are always welcome and encouraged to attend their meetings; the next one of which is scheduled for Monday, April 15, at 7pm at the Civic Centre on Alma Place, TR15 2AT.
