A railway attraction at St Newlyn East is "chuffed" that it has been named one of three attractions to make it through to the finals of a prestigious competition.

Lappa Valley has been shortlisted for the 2024-25 Cornwall Tourism Awards, which celebrate the brightest and best businesses in the Cornish tourism industry.

Dozens of attractions entered the large visitor attraction of the year category, with Lappa Valley, National Trust Lanhydrock, and The Minack Theatre making the final list. Lappa Valley has won gold in this category for the past two consecutive years.

All finalists were judged by a respected panel of experts, which included a mystery visit. The awards will take place during a glitzy ceremony at Truro Cathedral in November.

Keith Southwell, Lappa Valley’s owner, said: “To be in the final again, alongside such highly respected attractions like Lanhydrock and The Minack, really is an honour. We are extremely proud to be recognised in this way.

“Thank you to our excellent team for their hard work and support, as well as to those who choose to spend time with us. We look forward to the awards in November, and wish the very best of luck to all our fellow finalists.”
