Passengers in Cornwall have been urged to check before travelling as high winds and heavy rain are affecting the region’s railways.
Network Rail will impose speed restrictions on some railway lines in Cornwall and Devon of 50mph so that train services can continue to operate safely.
This will mean journeys will take longer and there may be late notice changes to schedules.
Passengers are urged to check their journey before they travel via National Rail Enquiries or with their train operator.
Speed restrictions will affect the following routes:
. Cornish main line, between Penzance and Plymouth
. St Ives Bay line, between St Erth and St Ives
. Maritime line, between Truro and Falmouth
. Atlantic Coast line, between Par and Newquay
. Looe Valley line, between Liskeard and Looe
. Tamar Valley line, between Plymouth and Gunnislake
. Tarka line, between Exeter St David’s and Barnstaple
David Davidson, interim Western route director at Network Rail said: “We’ve brought in additional teams and contractors to keep train services running safely during the high winds and heavy rain on Wednesday.
“We’ll continue to work closely with Great Western Railway and CrossCountry to get passengers where they need to go, but please check your journey before travelling.”
