The Royal Cornwall Museum is to get nearly £1.5m in Government funding.

The museum in Truro, which was threatened with closure last year in a funding row with Cornwall Council, has been given the money in the latest round of funding from the Cultural Investment Fund.

Darren Henley, Chief Executive of Arts Council England, said the money would "support recovery and growth".

Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer said the new tranche of £58.8m in funding nationwide included £185,608 to The Museum of Cornish Life in Helston, as well as £1,494,284 to the Royal Cornwall Museum.

Launched in 2019, the £200m fund is made up of three streams - the Cultural Development Fund, the Libraries Improvement Fund and the Museum Estate and Development Fund.
