A prominent Newquay hotel has been awarded a prestigious accolade.

The Headland Hotel has been crowned The Independent Hotel of the Year at the Independent Hotel show.

Director Veryan Palmer said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won this award, we were up against a group of incredible hotels.

“A heartfelt thank you goes out to the esteemed judges who recognised our excellence and to all of you who cast your votes; your support is invaluable to us.

"Fifty per cent of the voting was decided by the judges and 50% was decided by the public.

“Our thanks also go out to each and every team member who played an indispensable role in our victory.

"Frankly, your contributions are what made this win possible, and we couldn't have done it without you.

“It is time for a celebratory glass of something fizzy.”
