Hundreds of people attended a colourful Truro Pride to stand in solidarity with marginalised people in Cornwall and around the world.
The world’s largest progress flag was carried from Victoria Gardens to Lemon Quay to celebrate diversity, individuality and the LGBTQ+ community.
Various entertainment and music were staged at Lemon Quay and at Boscaswen Street, which included Benji Matthews, Motown Pirates, Jude Johnson, Mason Edwards, Jack, Kayley-Rae Rocks, Redruth Town Band, Roxie Moron, Alex Gibbons, Nathan Stubbings, Scarlette Von B, Dan Woodfield as well as headlining was London’s leading drag king Adam All and Apple Derrieres.
There were also stalls and stands, and groups offering advice, at the family-friendly event to encourage conversation. The Pride’s official after-party was staged at the Hall for Cornwall.
A spokesperson for Cornwall Pride, which organised the event, said: “We had an absolutely incredible day in the heart of Truro. It was the perfect way to wrap up our headline pride events for this year. We would like to say a massive, massive thank you to every single person and organisation who helped make this event happen and to everyone who came along.”
Thomas Thrussell, who volunteered during the event, said: “There was a great turn out of people at Truro Pride.
“I think there were a lot of people attending as it was their final opportunity to take part in Pride in Cornwall this year following Newquay Pride being a wash out and Redruth Pride being cancelled.
“One of the things, which made it a great event was the farmer’s market happening at the same time so there was a great mix of people at the two stages enjoying the full day’s line up of music and entertainment. There were also various stands for political parties, charities and organisations where people could ask them how they can support Pride.”
