CONSERVATIVE leader Kemi Badenoch has made a surprise visit to Cornwall in support of party candidates standing in local elections.
Mrs Badenoch, who was chosen as the Tory leader in the autumn, met up with former St Austell and Newquay MP Steve Double during the visit.
Mr Double is standing as a candidate for election to Cornwall Council in the division that covers St Mewan, Polgooth, Sticker, Trewoon, Grampound, St Ewe and the surrounding communities.
The Leader of the Opposition met Mr Double and other candidates in Trewoon.

Later Mrs Badenoch joined Mr Double canvassing and meeting local voters.
Mr Double was the MP for St Austell and Newquay for nine years until he lost his seat to Labour’s Noah Law in last summer’s General Election.
