POLICE have stepped up patrols in Newquay following a spate of thefts from cars.
A number of thefts from motor vehicles have occurred in several areas of the town including Nansledan and in and around Henver Road between Friday, January 10 and Thursday, January 16.
There have also been several incidents of people attempting to break into vehicles.
Officers are asking residents to lock their vehicles at all times and remove any personal items and valuables.
Newquay and St Columb Inspector Steve Johnson said: “I would encourage people to security conscious and remember to lock their vehicles.
“Some of these crimes are as a result of insecurities so could be avoided.
“Those that have Ring style doorbells can also check if they get alerts at strange times of the night and if anyone sees anything they consider to be suspicious, I want them to call the police.
“We will continue to carry out guided visible patrols in the relevant areas with a view to preventing crime.”
A police spokesperson added: “If you see anybody acting suspiciously, particularly in the early hours, or theft from a vehicle in progress, please call 999.”
