POLICE are investigating a report of a serious sexual assault on a woman in Newquay.

The incident allegedly took place on The Tram Track beside the Travelodge Hotel in Cliff Road around 10pm on July 31.

Anyone with information is asked to come forward.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson confirmed: “The woman was assaulted by a man on The Tram Track beside the Travelodge Hotel in Cliff Road around 10pm on 31 July.

“The victim is being supported by specially trained officers.

“A man in his 30s from Newquay has been arrested on suspicion of rape. He has been released on bail until October 31, pending further enquiries.”

Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone with information to assist the investigation to contact police.
